Why I Built a Digital Cemetery (And Why You Might Need One)

The headstone only held 40 words.

I stood there, looking at my brother’s grave, and realized that everything that made him who he was – his jokes, his stubbornness, his quiet way of showing up – wasn’t there. Just a name, two dates, and a short phrase chosen in a hurry.

That moment haunted me.

Not because I was sad. Because I was powerless. I couldn’t add his favorite photo. I couldn’t write a long letter. I couldn’t invite our cousins in another state to “visit” without buying plane tickets. There is so much that is wrong with the way we say “Good Bye” these days. Beginning with the limited time we have to do that.

And I thought: One day this will change!! But how and who. To be honest, I already knew who. Now came the how. That question ate at me for decades and then AI came along. That was the ingredient that Burial Cloud needed. After that, everything else fell into place. Now, the decades long vision, is a reality. But, it is only the beginning of what I see for Burial Cloud. So much more has to be done, but I will need a lot of help with what we are to become. The future of your families legacies are at stake.
